Discord ist eine plattformübergreifende Sprach- und Textchat App, die speziell für Gamer entwickelt wurde und es mit Teamspeak sowie Skype gleichermaßen aufnehmen möchte. Um die starke Konkurrenz hinter sich zu lassen, bleiben Updates nicht aus und es hat sich sowohl bei der Android-, als auch iOS-Version wieder einiges getan.

Schnell zusammengefasst können wir sagen, dass die App das heute erschienene iPhone X unterstützt, weniger Datenvolumen verbraucht (dank besserer Datenkomprimierung), eine bessere Performance hinlegt und nach Aussage der Entwickler schonender mit eurem Akku umgeht. Darüber hinaus gibt es noch eine Reihe an Problembehebungen, die ihr im nachfolgenden englischsprachigen Changelog für beide Versionen nachlesen könnt:
Version 5.5.3 für Android:
- Discord now uses less data because we made the bits work better (better data compression).
- At long last, you can now mark channels and guilds as read by long pressing.
- You can now do fancy permission management per role per category.
- We got rid of ghost users in voice channels. Ghosts? Consider yourself busted.
- I hear you like long pressing, so we added a long press action sheet for voice channels.
- We squished a big gooey pile of bugs.
Version 1.9.5 für iOS:
UPDATES iPhoneX supports.
We strapped on some rocket boosters and improved the crap out of the iOS app. Here’s what we changed:
- Ton of performance improvements – everything from switching servers, interacting with the chat itself, and overall less CPU.
- Discord now uses less of your battery.
- The app loads faster so you can hop in and out like a bunny. Bunnys hop. This metaphor works.
- Discord now uses less data because we made the bits work better (better data compression).
- Fixed some silly voice engine crashes when the app was backgrounded. We’re very serious around here. No silliness.
- No more robo voice on iPhone 8/8+ unless you get one of those retro Darth Vader masks and speak through it.
- Fixed very specific issue where audio would stop while A) iOS device was asleep and B) during a bluetooth call.
- We found the missing audio route selector button on iOS 11. It’s there now.
- Fixed another silly crash from a call related push notification.
- We’ve bargained with Zephyrus, so uploading images from iCloud should work now.
- Autocomplete suggestions will no longer get stuck above the keyboard and be really annoying.
- And on the seventh day, the Lord said “opening the user menu shall not crash.”
- The keyboard was gettin’ uppity sometimes and sliding out when it wasn’t wanted. We’ve put it back in it’s place.
- Fixed an issue where doing a drag maneuver on a link opened up the link to the dismay of everyone involved… which was probably just you. But you’re important!
- Fixed the bug where will get stuck when trying to logout.
